About FRIDAYS FEEL Programme
During the pandemic, we have been speaking to hundreds of young people about how they feel and what they think they will need going forward. It has been a tough time hasn’t it? Long periods away from friends, school, normal life. School exams being suspended. Jobs looking like they’ll be hard to find in the future and a very different university experience if you choose to go.
YOU told us at Fridays Coventry that your confidence had been shaken but rather than get down, many young people told us they felt the pandemic gave them a chance to think. Many told us they wanted to try something new and even start their own thing. At Fridays Coventry, we have seen for ourselves how being confident, leadership and learning really helps and we wanted to provide the advice to help you. So, here is the result – the F.E.E.L Programme. This stands for Fridays Empowerment, Entrepreneur and Leadership Programme which will be available to all school children across Coventry and the West Midlands and available to all on Fridays Coventry social media platforms.
How can the F.E.E.L Programme help you in the future?
It is not all about having great qualifications and A * results. Nowadays, people want young people to develop life skills that can help you in any situation and have qualities that can help you in all sorts of social situations whether that is being able to walk into a room and talk to strangers, to being confident when you go for a job interview. Or just show that you can lead if you get the opportunity to do so. So, the F.E.E.L Programme just gives you a little help from young people that have been where you are and understand. You will get great advice and tips that you can use to build your confidence, build your ideas and help you lead. You can even use the certificate you get at the end of the programme to attach to your CV or talk about in a social setting or at a job interview.
Who can take part in the F.E.E.L Programme?
Everyone that wants to do it! You can do it through your school, college, or youth club. Or do it yourself at home when you have the time..
How does it work?
Watch the F.E.E.L Introduction video from Founder of Fridays Coventry, Tyler Campbell. As Tyler says, you will get out of it, what you put in. No effort, no results. Give it a chance and you will get loads of chances to build your life skills, get more confidence, and follow your dreams be that becoming a recording artist, a YouTube influencer or getting a job you want. There is no rush. Work at your OWN pace.
There are 3 sections: Empowerment, Entrepreneurship and Leadership.
Each section has 5 short videos giving tips and advice on how you can Empower yourself and build up your self-confidence; how you can be an Entrepreneur (run your own ideas or even business). The last section is about Leadership, how to become a leader. Seriously, you can do it if you want it!
Please watch the short videos (around 2 mins). All have been recorded by young people that wanted to help you.
Then, answer the questions that follow the videos.
Once you have completed, receive the F.E.E.L Programme certificate which you can use when you need it to show you understand key skills.
Plus, there is a chance of free mentoring afterwards with many of those featured in the videos.
Plus, you can watch the short F.E.E.L dramas created by young people who have faced challenging situations many have had to overcome.
You can work alone or with friends, in a school setting or in your social bubble. If you want a certificate of achievement then you will have to watch all 5 videos from each section. This certificate can be used in your CV or when applying for apprenticeship or job as way of stating that you have completed an online learning life skills programme. We can give a reference of proof that you have. Or if you just want to watch and use the advice how you want, you can do that too. If you are doing the F.E.E.L Programme under a school supervised project a Fridays Coventry Mentor will be on hand via text or email to assist throughout the period you complete it.
Also, there are loads of additional F.E.E.L Programme videos with more mentors you can watch and use if you feel you relate better to those young people. Remember, you will get out of it, what you put in. No effort, no results.
Good Luck …own your future. Don’t let your past own you!
If you are Under 18 please inform a parent or guardian or your school that you are completing this course and when you complete it, please share the good news with that person. We are sure that they will be proud of you!
